I have a twofold prayer request, both regarding a young woman named Sara Kruzan; please allow me to give you a brief background on Miss Kruzan. She was raised by her abusive, drug-addicted mother, and met her father only three times in her life because he was in prison. Since the age of 9, Sara suffered from severe depression for which she was hospitalized several times. At the age of 11, she met a 31-year-old man named G.G. who molested her and began grooming her to become a prostitute. At age 13, she was forced to work as a child prostitute for G.G., and was repeatedly raped and abused by him. At age 16, Sara was convicted of killing him. She was sentenced to prison for the rest of her life without the possibility of parole, despite her background and a finding by the California Youth Authority that she was amenable to treatment offered in the juvenile system.
I have been writing to, and talking to, Sara since last year. She is a beautiful young woman, inside and out, and at the age of 32 has spent half her life in prison. She knows what she did was wrong, and is sorry for her actions. Earlier this year she was denied a new trial, however, she was just recently granted a re-sentencing hearing. This could be GREAT NEWS for Sara! As I mentioned, I have two prayer requests regarding this matter: 1) That Sara would be released at her re-sentencing hearing; and 2) that God would make a way for me to be there at her hearing, to show her (and the judge) my support for her and her freedom. As I write this, I cannot possibly afford a trip to California to be there for my dear friend. However, I DO know that God CAN and WILL provide, so I’m asking that you would pray for me so that God WOULD provide for me to be able to go and be there for her. This means more to me than I can even say.
I'm sorry this is such a long post, but I thought it was important to give you some background information. I know that Saint Rita is the saint of the impossible, so I KNOW she can answer my urgent request. I cannot thank you enough for your kind prayers. God bless you.
